This course is an introduction to the Ancient Egyptian civilization.
Classes are essentially audio-visual in format with a
high level of empathy and cultural tolerance. In the core study we will be
tracing the archaeological history of the
Pharonic Egypt from unification in c.3200 BC through to the Greek conquest
by Alexander in 323 BC. Areas of
concentration include the pyramid age, the imperial period, Tutankhamun and
daily life. Digressions may be necessary
for no reason except interest, and hopefully these will include examination
of aspects of individual student preference.
